ThyssenKrupp, a company that specializes in elevators and escalators based out of Germany, has a Memphis branch. In fact, the
unique elevator inside of the Bass Pro Shop Pyramid was created and installed by the company. The US's tallest freestanding elevator stands over 30 stories high.
MIT has recently published their
50 Smartest Companies 2015, naming ThyssenKrupp for "reinventing the elevator with magnetic levitation technology, resulting in a system that can transport more people and move horizontally".
