MULYP lauches #BuyEthnic Campaign

Memphis Urban League Young Professionals (MULYP) is a service oriented leadership organization. Their mission is to promote the development of young professionals (ages 21-40) in the Memphis area and to serve affiliates through social and community action.

Tonight (March 24) at 6 p.m., MULYP will host the "Neighborhood Spending" panel discussion at the Memphis Urban League. The panel will be focused on the importance of supporting local minority-owned business and its direct impact on community investment.

During the panel, MULYP will launch their #BuyEthnic campaign. The campaign will be a tool that encourages ethnic spending, by compiling all of the city's directories, consumer experiences, as well as, a home for local business advertising.  The site will host a network of blogs, videos, and photos of young professionals sharing their purchases or experiences with different businesses. All posts will be using the hashtag, #BuyEthnic, to provide real time results and trends through several social media platforms.

“As young leaders, we recognize that joining together makes us stronger. #BuyEthnic will show how big of an impact, small business can really have,” remarks Rhonnie Brewer, Social & Cultural Chair, Memphis Urban League Young Professionals.

#BuyEthnic will also include a centralized directory of businesses and resources in Memphis. Advertising and promotion through the campaign is also available.  With an emphasis on local businesses, communities will grow and invest from within.
