Following the House Democratic Caucus over Thanksgiving weekend, Memphis Democrats have claimed five of the nine leadership positions in the state.
The caucus for the upcoming 2017-2018 legislative session selected:
- Representative Joe Towns as assistant minority leader
- Representative Raumesh Akbari as house floor leader
- Representative Antonino Parkinson as caucus vice-chair
- Representative Karen Camper as caucus treasurer
- Representative John Deberry as leader pro tempore of the caucus
