West Cancer Center brings care under one roof

The West Cancer Center has opened its East Campus location that brings much of its work under one roof.

The new West Cancer Center at 7945 Wolf River Blvd. brings its physicians and researchers to one facility in an effort to elevate the quality of care in the region. Patients now will have access to multispecialty services that include medical, surgical, diagnostic and radiation oncology, in addition to West Cancer Center’s clinical research program.

“By physically combining the forces of our multidisciplinary specialty teams into one facility, we are creating an environment that truly fosters collaboration and produces a unique understanding of what each specialty requires,” said Erich Mounce, CEO of West Cancer Center.

The 123,000-square-foot facility is a result of a partnership between Methodist Healthcare, the University of Tennessee Health Science Center and West Clinic, who joined in January 2012 to form West Cancer Center.

The center, which had its grand opening Nov. 17, allows all three organizations to house clinical and research services, care support resources, drug therapy, a comprehensive breast center and survivorship services to meet patients’ needs.

West Cancer Center will serve more than 30,000 people annually in the new center, which should be fully operational in mid-December. It replaces the West Cancer Center at 100 N. Humphreys Blvd.

There are nine West Cancer Center facilities and five West Clinics in the Memphis area.
