Memphis Fashion Week is full-fledged and strutting this week

This week kicks off the full realization of Memphis FashionWeek. For the past three years, the showcase event has been a Friday and Saturday fashion show. Now, there are ample opportunities throughout the week to support local retailers and designers and the Memphis Fashion Fund, a community education initiative to create fashion design classes at Memphis College of Art.

Monday night was the kickoff party at Joseph boutique. A martini bar, DJ and informal models will user in the week’s fashionable events.

The VIP preview party is held Wednesday at the Jay Etkin gallery in the Cooper-Young neighborhood. The $200 VIP package includes swag bags, lounge access and priority seating before the formal Friday and Saturday night fashion shows.
Thursday is the Saddle Creek Memphis Fashion Fund party. At this open-to-the-public event, shoppers can be the first to see Saddle Creek’s new stores and enter a giveaway for tickets to the fashion shows. There will be two runway shows at 6 and 7pm with fashions from Banana Republic, Indigo and Brooks Brothers.

The Emerging Memphis Designers Project show is held Friday night at Memphis College of Art. Ten local designers will display their collections for celebrity judges including musician Grace Askew, designer Patt Kerr and Ballet Memphis costume designer Bruce Bui.

Saturday night is the Featured Designer Show. Diane Von Furstenberg, Faherty Brand, Anne Barge and Waverly Gray will send their Summer and Spring collections down the runway at the Memphis Zoo.

“What I love about Memphis is that they are so willing to give time, energy, support, resources, to make this to work,” said event organizer Abby Phillips.

Several local retailers including Lavish, Sachi, Found Memphis, Mrs. Post Stationary and Peridot hold special trunk shows and shopping events surrounding the week. For further details, check out the Memphis Fashion Week app or the website
