Annual summit addresses health disparities

The 5th Annual Let’s CHANGE Summit is scheduled for January 12. Let’s CHANGE is a partnership between Common Table Health Alliance and the Shelby County Health Department. The program is an acronym that stands for Let’s Commit to Healthy Activity and Nutrition Goals Everyday.

The theme for this year’s Summit is Life Expectancy: Poverty, Equity & Health. The event offers a unique conversation about the correlation between zip code and health disparity in Memphis and Shelby County.

The keynote speaker is David Sweat, Chief of Epidemiology for Shelby County Health Department, who will discuss how variations in income, education, race, ethnicity and the environment within Mid-South communities can determine how long and how well you live. The guest speaker will be Beverly Robertson, former President of the National Civil Rights Museum, and Mayor Luttrell will also be on the program.
