Entrepreneurs rethink freight transit

Thaddeus Medical Systems, founded by former Mayo Clinic researcher Steve Scully, MD, PhD, is a business with a focus on protecting biomedical samples while they are in transit.

“Temperature control of vaccines are of paramount importance, they can be ruined by temperatures that are too hot or too cold,” explained Scully. “Controlled transit temperature for biopsies, bone marrow and medical samples are also important. In addition to offering temperature stability, Thaddeus Medical can also provide tracking, documentation and security for biomedical samples.”

Currently Scully’s company has two labs in Memphis that are serving as beta partners.

Vijay Harrell, CEO of OneClickShip, is a former software engineer from Silicon Valley who already had experience in the logistics industry. In recognition that many small businesses cannot meet the time and economic hurdles of shipping overseas, Harrell developed a program to simplify the exporting process and lower capital costs.

“OneClickShip is a ‘web-based platform’ that empowers small businesses to automate their supply chain,” explained Harrell. “This allows the ‘little guys’ to compete effectively with the ‘big guys.’"

Harrell is launching beta testing this month, with paying customers, with plans to begin actual B2B (business-to-business) shipping in early 2016.
