With statewide recognition and The University of Memphis making plans to emulate the prorgam, Memphis Teacher Residency is a confirmed success. Their residency teaching model is unique -- have teachers learn in a classroom one day, and then the next day have them start to enact those lessons in a school much like the one they'll eventually work in. The stratgey seems to be working. MRT's teachers are staying in Memphis longer than other alternatively-certified teachers and are making consistently high state teacher scores.
