Memphis to be site of 2017 Music Cities Convention

Memphis has been confirmed as one of the sites for the 2017 Music Cities Convention.

The Commercial Appeal reports (http://memne.ws/2f4rTlV) the conference is scheduled for Oct. 26 and is headed by the organization, Sound Diplomacy.

According to the conference's website, the event "brings together leaders from governments, cities and regions, academics, organizations and the music scene to discuss, debate and introduce new thinking." Events will consist of short, "TED" style presentations, as well as collaborative panels and intensive networking.

Memphis will be the second of two conventions held in 2017. The first is scheduled for April in Berlin. Each event has a theme, with Memphis's being "I'll Take You There: Music, Equity and Access in Cities."
