Memphis Urban League Young Professionals prepares to 'Disrupt the Status Quo'

Memphis Urban League Young Professionals (MULYP) announces a new date for their 4th Annual Empowerment Conference. The new date will be Saturday, September 17. This year’s theme will still be "Disrupt The Status Quo", and will be centered around disrupting the status quo of inequality and injustice in healthcare, jobs, education, housing and social justice. This event allows young professionals in the surrounding area to meet under one roof, to network with other professionals of diverse backgrounds, collaborate to establish new ideas that advocate change and break barriers that serve as a hindrance to our progression in today’s society, and in our local communities.

"As young professionals and millennials, we have experienced things that our parents and grandparents could have never imagined," said Lakeisha Harrison, President of MULYP. "It is time for us to use our collective power to disrupt the status quo of inequality and injustice in health, jobs, education, housing, and social justice in our world."

In an effort to ensure this year’s conference is memorable, yet informative, the organization will venture out and allow participants to explore a new scenery by hosting the sessions and workshops, also known as "Disruption Sessions", throughout the historical downtown Memphis area, while being transported to each destination by the local trolley system.

In conclusion to the conference, MULYP will host its annual Mixology soiree on Saturday, September 17 at a secret location. The social gathering will include a fusion or art, live entertainment, music and cuisine.
