Accredo Health to boost Memphis workforce by year's end

Accredo Health Group Inc. plans to add roughly 50 jobs in Memphis at its Century Center headquarters near Whitten Road and Interstate 240 by the end of this year, padding its local workforce of more than 1,500 employees.

"We plan to add patient care advocates, pharmacists and pharmacy technicians," says Brian Henry, the company's Vice-President of Corporate Communications.

Accredo, a subsidiary of Express Scripts Holding Co., is a specialty pharmacy that provides specialized care for patients with complex and chronic conditions. The company's therapeutic resource centers offer targeted therapy management programs for rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis, oncology, hepatitis C, immune disorders, pulmonary arterial hypertension, hemophilia and specialty therapies with dedicated care teams like RSV and growth deficiencies.

"Our specialty business is a key growth driver for Express Scripts," continues Henry.

Earlier this year Boston-based General Investment and Development Co. picked up approximately 12 acres of vacant land next to Accredo from Boyle Investment Co. Plans are to convert the parcel into a new 500-space parking lot for Accredo employee use. GID purchased the Century Center complex from Sun Life Financial in 2005.
