Downtown/Downtown Core

By day, the Downtown Core is the Mid-South’s center of government, law and commerce. At night the area comes alive in lights as a leading tourist and entertainment district. It draws millions annually to its historic locales such as think Peabody Hotel and Beale Street and sporting events from basketball to boating. A destination for arts and culture, Downtown has something for everyone including museums, theater, live music, and the month-long Memphis in May International Festival. Recently, focus has returned to the city’s source, the Mississippi River, with major riverfront investments like Big River Crossing and Fourth Bluff project.
